Welcome message
Join us for this year’s Trainee Day at CNPN 2024 in Whistler on November 17th!
The Trainee Symposium is an exclusive event for trainees to present their research and network with their peers—no faculty allowed! The day will start at 8:30 AM and conclude at 3:30 PM, with breakfast and lunch provided. The focus of Trainee Day will be on providing trainees the opportunity to present their work in a supportive environment. Talks will be 8 minutes in length followed by a 3-minute Q&A period. The top five presentations at Trainee Day, as judged by your peers, will be promoted to a reserved oral presentation slot in the main conference, where you will have the chance to give your presentation to the broader CNPN audience.
During Trainee Day, there will be plenty of opportunities to network and connect while enjoying the beautiful scenery of Whistler! The Trainee Symposium will conclude shortly before the opening reception of the main conference (see main conference program above).
Trainees are strongly encouraged to submit their abstracts by the early registration deadline—September 17th 2024—for the most opportunities to present their work and the chance for a CNPN travel fellowship. The former includes priority selection for presentation at Trainee Day, as well as, the best chance to be selected from the main abstract pool for a direct slot in the main conference’s oral sessions. Please also consider submission of abstracts for poster considerations as the poster sessions will be a great opportunity for networking and skill building.
Trainees submitting their abstracts by the September 17th deadline will also have the opportunity to be selected for one of the several Trainee Awards ($500 CAD) to support travel to the meeting. To be eligible for a travel award, simply submit your abstract (in any category) by the early registration deadline.
The Trainee Committee is also happy to support trainees in finding a roommate at the Fairmount Whistler. At the time of hotel reservation, please indicate that you are looking for a roommate and we will do our best to match you with a peer.
On behalf of the Trainee Day Organizing Committee, we look forward to seeing you in Whistler!
Sincerely,
Kiki Huang, University of Toronto
Michael Woods, University of Guelph
