Canadian Human Proteome Project

The Second Canadian Human Proteome Project Meeting, MaRS District Discovery, Toronto was held February 22, 2011 at the MaRS District Discovery, Toronto, Ontario. A report of the meeting is found here.

The Canadian National Proteomics Network is promoting a Canadian Human Proteomics Project (CHPP), which will leverage Canada’s existing strengths in proteomics, health research and technology. A position paper is currently being developed based on the outcomes of the first CHPP meeting held on January 16-17, 2011 in conjunction with the Annual Proteomics Conference in Cell Biology in Barbados and the second Canadian Human Proteome Project Meeting was held in Toronto on February 22. The CHPP Working Group presented the first draft of this
position paper and invited feedback and further development of the project from the research community, clinicians and industry partners. As members of the CNPN and CNPN Board of Directors, the goal of the organizers of the meeting is to present a final version of the position paper to Canadian and provincial funding agencies in the Spring of 2011 with the intent of stimulating interest for a nationwide funding competition to support a CHPP.
